Q: What steps do I take to buy a memorial from High Cross Monument Co.?
A: We follow the four simple steps below to make it very easy for you, or your loved ones, to have a beautiful memorial with meaningful Celtic designwork.
1. We start by checking with your cemetery to find out what, if any, memorial restrictions we need to consider when designing your memorial.
2. We talk with you and offer advice to help you in selecting the shape, size, type of stone, Celtic design, lettering style, etc. for your memorial. We can give you price range estimates at this point.
3. Once we have established an agreeable basic concept and budget range, we put your ideas together in a color computer drawing showing exactly what your memorial will look like. (MouseOver image of drawing to see an example) We make installation arrangements and send you copies of a final drawing and a purchase agreement for your approval.
4. When your memorial is finished we will send you a photo to show it was made as promised. When the final payment is received your memorial will be shipped for setting.
Q: How much do they cost?
A: Because of the quality of work shown on this site and in the brochure, some people have made the erroneous assumption that they couldn't afford a memorial from High Cross. The fact is, if they can afford a memorial from anyone else, they can afford one of ours. We are just like any other monument builder in regard to price, our memorials come in all price ranges. The price of any memorial will vary greatly depending on the type of stone, size, amount of carving and surface finishes used. Because of all the potential variables, there is no way to create a meaningful price list. Each memorial design must be priced individually. We make sure we are fair and reasonable in the price we ask for our memorials.
Q: What about shipping and installation?
A: While most of our work goes to the Northeast and Midwest, we regularly ship monuments to all four corners of the country. We get large discounts on shipping which we pass along to you. This keeps the cost of shipping very reasonable. We also make all the necessary arrangements to have your memorial installed on a concrete foundation. Your monument is protected against loss or damage every step of the way.
Q: What are the advantages of taking care of my own memorial needs?
A: The only way to assure your memorial will be to your liking is to purchase it yourself. Your memorial can be installed in the cemetery with only the final dates needing to be carved. Adding the final dates can be done at little expense by a local monument company. When you purchase your own memorial, you remove this future emotional and financial burden from your family. They will take comfort in the knowledge that the decision was yours and that you were truly happy with it.
Buyer's Guide
High Cross Monument Company takes its name from the ancient Celtic crosses which have stood for over a thousand years. In the Celtic lands these tall crosses are traditionally known as the "High Crosses". Their beautiful and intricate carvings surely inspired awe in the people who first beheld them so long ago, as they still do today.
They are the inspiration for High Cross Monument Company. We take traditional Celtic designs from ancient manuscripts, metalwork, and stonework, and adapt them to create beautiful memorials which meet today's needs. We believe that a memorial can, and should, be a reflection of the person it is created for. Our memorials are offered for those who seek a meaningful alternative to what is commonly available in the market today.
We offer convenience. Not even a local company will make the process of purchasing a memorial any easier. You never even have to leave your home. A few visits on the phone is usually all that is required. It is really a very simple process.
We offer variety. Throughout this site you will be able to view a large number of pieces we have designed and carved for our customers. You will find all types of memorials; crosses, upright monuments and markers. The variety of finished memorials you will see is the result of carefully listening to what our customers like and want.
We offer memorials with traditional Celtic designwork that is correctly laid out and carved. We are the only monument builder in the country which specializes in traditional Celtic design. Consequently, our knowledge and expertise in designing and carving traditional Celtic designwork is unsurpassed. If you are looking for a Celtic cross, upright monument or marker with traditional Celtic designwork, you will not find a wider selection or superior carving anywhere.
Buyer Beware! Tragically every day people are enticed by slick websites with lots of images and the perceived convenience of purchasing a memorial through an on-line vendor that has a "Shopping Cart" button. In almost every case they would have received superior work and at a lower price elsewhere. Most of these sites show images of standard "off-the-rack" memorial designs available anywhere. The least scrupulous try to claim these industry standard designs, and occasionally the work of other monument builders, as their own.
However, many very reputable monument builders have websites these days simply to showcase examples of work that their companies have actually designed and carved. That is the sole purpose of our site as well. Every piece of work shown on this site was designed and produced by us. Each represents a unique collaboration between us and our customer. We offer a unique and highly specialized form of memorial art, not a simple commodity. Therefore you will never find a "Shopping Cart" button on our site and we would strongly advise you to avoid any memorial dealer that has one on their site.
We, like other ethical professionals in the monument industry, realize that there is a certain amount of interaction which must take place between the customer and the builder to assure good results. This may not be the quickest and easiest way to sell memorials, but we are most concerned with producing high-quality, personalized memorials for satisfied customers.
